A sustainable governance model
The club belongs to its members and supporters. They elect a volunteer board to manage current affairs in line with the club’s vision and principles, supported by as little low-paid staff as possible.
Beyond General Assemblies, members take an active part in governing the club. They serve on committees that support the board’s work and are invited to give their views electronically on current issues.
The club is establishing a governance manual to guide its operations and financial independence, so its future does not depend on any particular sponsor or board.

What are the financial obligations of membership?
For the current annual membership fee and registration process, contact the OKE office at info@okebc.gr or 210 55 40 440. Financial terms are provided before registration is completed.
How can I pay my membership fee?
- By bank transfer to the club account GR3701720250005025098106295, Elefsina Basketball Club (SWIFT-BIC PIRBGRAA), stating “Annual Membership Fee” as the payment reference.
- In cash at our office (5 Asklipiou Street, Elefsina), by prior arrangement on 210 55 40 440.
Being part of OKE is different!
When the current board took over in summer 2018, it pledged to modernise the traditional way an amateur sports club is governed and how it engages with the community. Its greatest challenge was to mobilise local people not merely as spectators, but as stakeholders who participate in the club’s governance. Our task was to create the conditions for this to happen.
Good governance in sport
Creating the conditions for this change involved applying the national sports legislation in force and adopting European good-governance principles for sport.
Good governance at our club means democratic decision-making, transparent financial management, accountability for decisions and fair representation of the board, members, sponsors, parents and athletes. It also includes the transition to digital ways of working.
These principles were addressed in the most recent amendment to the club’s constitution, which provides for its governance rules.
What does our new constitution safeguard?
The future. The club no longer depends solely on one well-intentioned person or a small group. The amendment created conditions for financial self-reliance and governance rules designed to ensure continuity.
What does our governance transformation represent?
It represents a major effort to change the governance model, not only at our club but across amateur sport.
We seek to make an amateur club financially sustainable and independent in the 21st century, bring in expertise and connections with the university community, operate transparently in line with European standards and set an example for our children.
